Loop used by Douglas R. Hofstadter in 'Godel, Escher, Bach', originally published in New York by Basic
Books Inc. in April 1979. Hofstadter defines: "The 'Strange Loop' phenomenon occurs whenever, by moving upwards (or downwards) through the levels of some hierarchical system, we unexpectedly find ourselves right back where we started." |
